Shuler said the price tag of the stimulus package is high, and he is concerned about returning fiscal responsibility to Washington. He is a member of the fiscally conservative Democratic Blue Dog Caucus and was recently elected whip of the group.

Democrat, said his committee projects the plan will reduce the unemployment rate by “maybe” 1 percent, or about half of the 3 million jobs Obama has said the plan would generate.

Lawmakers and Experts Question Obama’s Stimulus Package (Tax Cuts?)
At least two tax cuts that are part of Barack Obama’s stimulus package have been criticized by lawmakers.
Both Democrats and Republicans have questioned a provision that would provide a $3,000 tax credit to companies for every job created and, possibly, for every job spared.
Another Obama provision, a $500 credit for middle-class taxpayers, may face significant revisions, if it survives the final cut. Obama has proposed distributing the benefit over the course of a year.

Democrats Look to Muzzle Conservative Radio
During an interview with Stabenow, syndicated radio host Bill Press said conservatives should not be the only voices heard on talk radio and asked the Michigan lawmaker: “So, is it time to bring back the Fairness Doctrine?”
Stabenow responded: “I think it’s absolutely time to pass a standard. Now, whether it’s called the Fairness Standard, whether it’s called something else I absolutely think it’s time to be bringing accountability to the airwaves.
Since talk radio is overwhelmingly dominated by conservative hosts, and liberal talk radio draws few listeners, the “equal time” provision would likely force many radio stations to pull popular conservative hosts from the air rather than air low-rated liberal hosts.
