Colorado Springs: Obama hedging on promises

President Barack Obama has repeatedly promised that Americans wouldn’t see a tax increase if they make less than $250,000, and if they like their health insurance, they can keep it.

It seems now that the president has no intention of keeping those promises. The health care legislation he supports would impose a significant tax hike on individuals making more than $85,000.

Additionally, for senior citizens Medicare will face more than $400 billion in lost benefits.

It seems that taxpayers and seniors now face new promises from Obama: higher taxes on the middle class and increased cost, reduced access, watered-down quality and rationed care for patients.

Finally, more than 182 members of Congress support a three-day waiting period on health care legislation so that the Congressional Budget Office can estimate its cost and so that Congress and the American public can read the final legislation. With health care legislation frequently longer than Tolstoy’s “War and Peace,” a three-day waiting period so that legislators can read it seems like a good idea — particularly so when taxpayers will be asked to pay $800 billion or more.  SOURCE

The source where I got this is a very interesting page and shows a light on more of the Colorado people than just the Obama people. To read what a couple of people from Colorado Springs said in comments you would think all Colorado Springs voters loves Obama so much that they would vote for him no matter what he did! From this page I see something totally different. Oh, I know I will be attack by both of them if they’re able to read my post, mayeb they should go back to school.

MORE UPDATE 30 JUNE:

State labor officials said Friday that Colorado’s seasonally adjusted rate was 7.6 percent in May, up from 7.4 percent in April. In May of last year, Colorado’s unemployment rate was 4.7 percent.

Colorado’s unemployment rose slightly in May, cutting short a downward trend that some pointed to as hope for a recovery.

Last month, Colorado shed about 21,000 jobs, to 2,513,900. In May of last year, Colorado had 2,597,600 working residents.

State labor officials said unemployment rates usually go up in May, when seasonal ski resort workers look for new jobs. About 7,600 jobs were lost in leisure and hospitality.

Manufacturing employment also fell, down 1,900 jobs, and the logging and mining sector dropped for the sixth consecutive month, shedding 900 jobs.

The biggest losses in the past year came in the category of professional and business services, which is down 15.6 percent from May of 2008, a loss of 25,800 jobs.

Wonder what these 511 unemployed workers at Atmel think about Obama’s Stimulus plan to create new jobs or save jobs? Americans are still losing jobs at a record pace across America and Obama is still calling for more spending and more taxes! Tell me people, how does a family of 4 meet their bills while on unemployment checks?   Obama approval rating is at its lowest today telling me that the unemployed workers are feeling the hard times while Obama family is spending American tax money to party.

UPDATED 23 JAN – Guantanamo Bay Prisoners Could Be Moved To Colorado Springs, Colorado

UPDATED: 23 JAN

Gov. Bill Ritter supports the idea of bringing terror suspects to Colorado to be housed at the federal Supermax prison in Florence. Go here for more

Colorado Springs congressman fears closing the prison housing terror suspects at the Navy base in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, could result in their being transferred to Colorado.

Rep. Doug Lamborn, a first-term Republican, toured the military prison Friday and said afterward he doesn’t want the 250 detainees there moved to federal prisons, including the high-security Supermax in Florence, south of Colorado Springs.

“There are some people here who are bent on destroying our way of life,” Lamborn said in a phone interview, referring to the “enemy combatants” captured during the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Lamborn has no specific information on moving the prisoners, but he said Supermax is a logical site for relocation if Guantanamo is closed.

The federal Bureau of Prisons said Friday that while it has been successful at keeping terrorists behind bars, the agency isn’t relishing the thought that 250 detainees could be dumped in their system.

Those Guantanamo Bay “enemy combatants” prisoners if moved to Colorado will have the same rights as the Colorado Springs American citizens have. These prisoners want to kill Americans and we want them living next door? I understand that Colorado is Obama country so I can see why they would welcome the Guantanamo Bay prisoners!

LINK: Colorado Springs: America’s 3rd Drunkest City
Colorado is gaining a bad reputation. For several years, Colorado Springs was voted one of the drunkest cities in the country.
Here is the sobering truth: Each city was ranked in five areas; number of dui arrests, number of fatal drunk driving crashes, number of binge drinkers, number of alcohol related liver disease deaths and how many M.A.D.D. programs we have to cut down on excessive drinking.

Colorado Springs ranks high across the board. So we did our own investigation on the rankings. Starting with Pam Vanoverbeke of our local M.A.D.D. chapter.

“Colorado Springs currently, it’s a little bit scary. We’ve had about 17 fatalities. 13 of those have been alcohol related,” says Vanoverbeke.

Sounds like a good place to send the Guantanamo Bay (terrorist) prisoners and they all can get drunk together. Even the DA was caught drinking and driving while on the job! Maybe the people of Colorado Springs and the terrorist can join AAA rehab!
