Oil spill will cause more damage than Katrina

Almost half of Orleans Parish residents, 49 percent, said the oil spill will cause more damage than Katrina, compared with 40 percent who said the hurricane was more damaging, according to a poll released Aug. 13 by the Kaiser Family Foundation. The survey was conducted May 26-June 27 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.

Local officials have been critical of Obama’s decision to impose a moratorium, set to expire Nov. 30, on drilling in waters deeper than 500 feet. The moratorium idled 33 rigs and may cost 23,247 jobs, by the administration’s estimate. Two rigs, owned by Houston-based Diamond Offshore Drilling Inc., have since left the Gulf to drill elsewhere. Chairman of the NRA’s Political Victory Fund, said the organization strongly opposed the confirmation of Elena Kagan to the Supreme Court. It had warned lawmakers that the NRA would weigh that vote when it came to its endorsements. SOURCE

Murkowski asked Sean Cairncross to help her campaign prepare for the counting of as many as 16,000 absentee ballots cast before Tuesday’s primary. Republican officials say the National Republication Senatorial Committee’s chief counsel will spend a few days in Alaska.

A Medicare plan to try to make it simpler for consumers to pick drug coverage could force 3 million seniors to switch plans next year even if they don’t want to, says an independent analysis.

That risks undercutting President Barack Obama’s promise that people can keep their health plans if they like them.

And it could be an unwelcome surprise for many seniors who hadn’t intended to make a change during Medicare’s open enrollment season this fall.

Avalere Health, a leading private research firm, estimated that more than 3 million beneficiaries will see their prescription plan eliminated as part of a new Medicare effort to winnow duplicative coverage and offer consumers more meaningful choices.

Did beat “whitey night” occur in Iowa?

Here are the facts: Des Moines police are trying to determine what lead to a series of attacks outside the Iowa State Fairgrounds over the weekend that included the assault on two police officers.

Five people were arrested with more arrests expected. The fights involved mostly young black teens and the fights appear to be racially motivated.

According to witnesses some fairgoers started yelling beat “whitey night” when people were leaving the fairgrounds. Officers on the grounds say about 30 individuals were roaming the fairgrounds looking for white people to beat up. One man, who was attacked, suffered injuries to his eyes, cheekbones and nose.

At first this sounded like one of those urban legends, especially since there has not been more widespread news coverage of this event. If this is true, then it outragous. SOURCE

The Iowa State Fair had its share of problems with “attacks” on fair goers this year. On August 14th, after several attacks, the security was upped at the fair grounds. Over the last weekend trouble again erupted at the fair grounds where a group of 30-40 people, mostly black, were roaming the grounds and saying it was “beat whitey night”.

Beat Whitey Night ended up with 2 police being assaulted while trying to bring the black “youths” under control. To hear one of the officers account of the attack on himself, the audio is here. ICE Won’t Arrest Illegal Aliens Caught In Traffic Stops

In its latest surreptitious effort to protect illegal immigrants the Obama Administration plans to prohibit both federal and local law enforcement officers from arresting undocumented aliens discovered as a result of traffic violations.

To monitor our children’s cell phones would mean that school officials would be listening in on the conversations between parents and their children.
Tarheeltalker published “What Privacy” on his blog saying schools allows parents to track what their children are buying for breakfast and lunch while at school. This story does not end there, School officials in New Canaan, Ct are in the very preliminary stages of considering if they should add radio frequency tags to student and staff id cards and possibly place them on school property says Tarheeltalker.

How much longer will the American people allow the government and schools to take over the lives and privacy of our children? As voters we better start keeping up with what’s happening daily in government and our schools! We’re losing our freedom and our privacy faster than I have every seen in my life time. We’re becoming a Country under the control of dictators, we wake-up before it’s to late to change course!

This digging into our privacy by schools and the government is happening at the time the Obama administration is calling it racist profiling to ask illegals in this Country for their papers! We as Americans are stupid if we let this continue!
