UPDATED 18 APRIL – High-profile attorney says the declassified Department of Justice memos detailing interrogation techniques prove the U.S. did not torture

Is sleep deprivation, grabbing by the collar and diaper-wearing torture?

Obama said Thursday that the U.S. won’t prosecute CIA officials who used the techniques and ordered the memos rescinded. The CIA interrogators, some of whom were contractors, weren’t identified in the partially censored documents.

“This is a time for reflection, not retribution,” Obama said. “In releasing these memos, it is our intention to assure those who carried out their duties relying in good faith upon legal advice from the Department of Justice that they will not be subject to prosecution.”

While civil rights groups applauded Obama for releasing the memos, some expressed frustration with his promises of immunity for those who followed the memos’ guidance — and predicted that it would amount to blanket cover for all former Bush administration officials. Read More

At least one high-profile attorney says the declassified Department of Justice memos detailing interrogation techniques prove the U.S. did not torture, even as the ACLU and some lawmakers claim the memos are proof positive the Bush administration did.

David Rivkin, a constitutional lawyer and member of the Council on Foreign Relations, released a statement Friday saying the release of four memos provides a “great benefit” to the former president.

“This data is analyzed in great detail to establish that the use of these techniques does not inflict either physical or psychological damage,” said Rivkin, who served in the administrations of Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush. “The conclusions (the) memos reach that the specific interrogation techniques used by the CIA did not constitute torture are eminently reasonable.” Read More

California and North Carolina in March posted their highest jobless rates in at least three decades (California’s unemployment rate 11.2%)

California’s unemployment rate jumped to 11.2% in March, while North Carolina rose to 10.8%, the highest for both since the U.S. government began a comprehensive tally of state joblessness in 1976.

California lost 62,100 jobs in March, with Florida next at 51,900 jobs lost, Texas at 47,100 and North Carolina at 41,300, according to the federal figures. Read More

I have to ask, did you get what you where hoping for when you voted for Obama to be your president? Are you that have lost your jobs feel that you’re better off today under Obama or where you better off when you had a job? I don’t see anything getting better for the middle class and the poor do you?

I just want to tell you that tonight’s show is on!! Mario Apuzzo and Charles Kerchner will be the guests on the show tonight to give us an update on the movement on their case. Mark McGrew will be listening to the show to take over with Matt in case I have to shut down due to the SEVERE Storms that are expected in our area.
