Sen. Robert Byrd (D-W.Va.) Obama in power grab

In a letter to Obama on Wednesday, Byrd complained about Obama’s decision to create White House offices on health reform, urban affairs policy, and energy and climate change. Byrd said such positions “can threaten the Constitutional system of checks and balances. At the worst, White House staff have taken direction and control of programmatic areas that are the statutory responsibility of Senate-confirmed officials.”

While it’s rare for Byrd to criticize a president in his own party, Byrd is a stern constitutional scholar who has always stood up for the legislative branch in its role in checking the power of the White House. Read More

We’re seeing more and more criticism adding up on Obama and his policies! With his approval rating going down below 60% for the first time. This is takeing place in a short time of 2 months, if it keeps going down at this pace it will not be long that Obama will start feeling the effects.

Senator echoes Tea Party rally cry – ‘People have to show that they’re not going to take it anymore’

Sen. Jim DeMint, R-S.C., a staunch opponent of the federal government’s increase in size and spending legislated by President Obama’s stimulus package, has issued a call for Americans to stand up – literally – and take back their freedom.

“I would think it’s time to start thinking about peaceful demonstrations,” DeMint said in an interview with Georgia’s Augusta Chronicle. “The power of the people is there. Freedom is in the people’s hands right now, and it’s about to slip through.”

Disappointed by the outcome on Capitol Hill, DeMint is now calling on the common people to resist government actions he sees overflowing constitutional bounds.

“Really, I think the hope right now is not in Congress to make the right decision, because they’re not,” DeMint says. “It’s just whether or not the American people are going to stand up and say enough is enough.” Read More

The senator is correct, the American people has to stand up and take our country back.

A mere 24 hours ago, Guantanamo Bay detainee Binyam Mohamed landed in England at 8:30 EST – a free man

Binyam Mohamed

Binyam Mohamed

Guantanamo Bay detainee Binyam Mohamed is a dangerous al-Qaeda terrorist and should have been kept in custody to protect our country and our allies. Mohamed, a detainee since 2004, has admitted to training at various Al-Qaeda training camps, where he specialized in firearms and explosives. He is accused of plotting a series of attacks on the United States with Jose Padilla (The Dirty Bomber) and Khalid Sheik Mohammed (Mastermind behind 9/11). The British government has indicated that upon his arrival in England, he is not expected to be arrested. His release has left America and its allies less safe and less secure.

If you believe that dangerous detainees should not be released from Guantanamo Bay if they still pose a threat to the United States and its allies, then we need your support. Please sign the below petition to keep Mohamed’s friends behind bars and keep our country safe. Military Families United will present this petition to the President and urge him to stop freeing terrorists.
