In the first five weeks of his presidency, Barack Obama has acted so rashly that at least 11 states have decided that his brand of “hope” equates to an intolerable expansion of the federal government’s authority over the states. I wish Tennessee would add it’s name to the list also. It’s about time the states stood up to the creature they created.
Is it a sovereignty issue or a ploy to break up the United States?
I think its sovereignty because the people see that Obama will try and push laws that the States does not agree with..one such law is the abortion and another is gun control!
The States are getting serious about this Obama big time spending. I have updated the post!
It is not about breaking up the United States or anything so radical. It is simply a statement to the Federal Government reminding them of the strict limits placed upon them by our Constitution. The STATES established the Constitution to direct the Federal Government to act as their AGENT, not the other way around. The Federal Government has begun to assume authority and rights beyond the scope of the Constitution and has mandated regulatory functions within the states that it has no right or authority to. This is simply a case of people telling their Federal Government not to meddle with the authority of their State and local governments. After all, governments rule by the consent of their people. In many cases the people through the Constitution have never consented to some of the Federal government’s actions.
Maybe the states should come together to clarify what the feel are the powers of the federal government …… and possibly submit a new amendment to the constitution limiting federal powers.
