Obama Handles First Natural Disaster Poorly So Far!
In a campaign speech in New Orleans on Feb. 7, 2008, then-candidate Obama promised not to repeat the George Bush administration’s slow response to Hurricane Katrina.
“Across the city, we see the evidence that George Bush’s promises were empty,” Obama said.
“If catastrophe comes,” Obama said, “the American people must be able to call on a competent government. When I am president, the days of dysfunction and cronyism in Washington will be over.”
But, according to Shapiro, Acting Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Administrator Nancy Ward did not arrive in Kentucky until Feb. 4 – 10 days after the Jan. 26 storm struck.

10 Days after the storm and Obama thinks that timely? We have to understand that the media and Liberals are kissing Obama from head to toes and he can’t do anything wrong in their eyes. If this was a republican they would be all over him like flies on stink!

So… The Obama is in fact governed by reality? Say it isn’t so!
I don’t know about that but he is governing very poorly and has no room to talk about GW Bush!
FEMA cannot move in until the governor of the state asks for federal assistance. The KY Gov didn’t ask for federal assistance until February 2.
No used defending Obama on this! Read the story in the post! Obama isn’t any better at giving assistance to the States! Sorry but the savior let KY down!
I read the article, did you? It says “Shapiro said President Obama quickly granted Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear’s request for an emergency declaration.” Beshear made his request on Feb. 2, and FEMA moved in on Feb. 4. There wasn’t a 10 day lag at all.
Are you suggesting, goodtimepolitics, that there’s no use defending Obama even when he’s right? Or is your problem that, in your humble opinion, Obama is never right?
BUSH: FEMA director Michael D.Brown “declined to blame President Bush or the White House for his removal or for the flawed response to Hurricane Katrina disaster!
Obama: Acting Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Administrator Nancy Ward did not arrive in Kentucky until Feb. 4 – 10 days after the Jan. 26 storm struck.
By the way has Obama been to check out the damage in Kentucky yet? Its been quite a while now and he should have at least care enough to visit the area! What you think about that Larry?
Obama dozed, people froze.
Is it that hard to understand? KY asked for federal assistance on Feb. 2. FEMA mobilized on Feb. 4. DOn’t states-rights advocates understand that the federal government cannot just come onto an emergency site whenever they wish? That they have to wait until asked?
Since you asked, goodtimepolitics, I think President Obama has more pressing matters right now, like shepherding the stimulus bill thorugh Congress. If memory serves, the only thing President Bush was doing at the time of Katrina was celebrating John McCain’s birthday on a tarmac in Arizona.
larry seems to think we’re blaming the president for the failures of local authorities.
Larry there was help there fast, maybe to fast!
During Hurricane Katrina, huge military convoys may have clogged highways, causing traffic jams.
After lecturing us all to turn down our thermostats to “72 degrees at all times” on the campaign trail, The One moves into the White House and promptly cranks up the heat to tropical temperatures! Read More
Yes thats it, to cold for the savior in Ky. I don’t think he has cared enough to go visit the area! What kind of president is that? Answer: Still to busy campaigning president!
Who Said OBAMA WAS A JOKE
Yep, you’re surely correct, goodtimepolitics.
And there were WMD in Iraq.
You keep playing in the back yard there Larry! Get out of the past and into political corruption Barack times!
