The NSC (National Security Council) now has more power than under the Bush Administration due to a new presidential directive (non-constitutional) signed by Obamalama. The very stuff that he, along with the other libs shouted from the rooftops as “foul” , he now is signing in to being. That’s what you call pot calling the kettle black I guess.offmyfrontporch.
The Democrats has been cutting down President Bush just to push their agenda of gaining power in Washington. Obama and the democrats has been lying to the American people. Its about time that we wake-up to the fact that Obama is wanting a socialist government which will take more rights from the people.

(1) Change and Hope and a “Stimulus” That Will Be the End of Us
Obama is pushing these things. He’s not deciding what these things should be (this directive, the porkulus bill, etc.). Makes you wonder who’s behind the scenes.
I keep thinking about what Usama bin Laden said “The next attack on The United States will come from within our own government”.
I sometimes think that this attack has already started.
Can America Go Bankrupt? If people do not have confidence in the long-term financial stability of the U.S. government, the chances are that they will not have much confidence in the long-term stability of U.S. corporations, and so you would see a collapse of long-term investment altogether.
rjjrdq, I don’t think we have to assume a behind-the-scenes power calling the shots. Recall that it’s been 14 years since the Dems controlled both houses of Congress and the presidency, too. Porkulus is the product of 14 years of wishing, with the party drifting left the whole time and the party leaders drifting faster. Obama is perfectly down with monster government and a socialized economy. Had he been in complete control, I suspect he would have introduced a less unsightly “stimulus” in order to garner more R coverage. His IL record is one of ratcheting up government power by small amounts, over and over again, and I think that’s still his preferred tactic. SCHIP, with coverage just extended to poor families making over $100K/yr and poor children who are 24 years old, is a perfect Obama program. However, he’s not in complete control. The Pelosis and the Franks will no longer be denied, and Obama has to go along with them for now. What they want is basically what he wants, although they probably haven’t thought about means and ends as carefully as he has, and he can’t afford to alienate them now. No enemies to the left, to paraphrase Ronald Reagan, at this point anyhow. I had thought that the O-team would be able to formulate a “crisis” response without picking such a big fight and to force congressional Dems to go along, but it may be that Pelosi and friends were ready with a wish list that was mostly non-negotiable.
And GTP, the prospect of bankruptcy is very real if Porkulus passes and the bailouts keep coming. The next step in the “crisis” may have to be huge tax increases, and Obama is fine with that, too. The recession will not only be lengthened, it will be deepened. Worse is better for Obama, so long as he can claim things are looking up by 2012.
And we have to remember that O has zero understanding of economics. He’s got some bright boys and girls on his economic team, but they seem to have sold out immediately. Ol’ Larry Summers, for instance, wanted “timely, targeted, and temporary” for the stimulus. Now he’s out there doing his inadequate best to defend a package that is the opposite of his 3T formula.
