The Geithner Senate Finance Committee vote is over!
Mr. Geithner’s abilities and credentials were never at issue, and even those conservative Republicans who differ with Mr. Geithner ideologically said they were glad to support him.

The Republicans and Democrats in congress is the most corrupt and wimpy politicians that I have ever seen! What kind of government do we have? Two years from now we need to throw out not only democrats but republicans that are not doing their jobs! I have been saying all along that even John McCain seem to not want to win against Obama and gave up early in the campaign. Well I guess not paying your taxes is OK with this government and its president!

Republicans in Congress, lap dogs or loyal opposition? Think we already know the answer to that, sad to say.
There’s plenty of limp R’s, but five of ‘em (of ten) voted against Geithner, which is more than I’d expected. We gotta boost their morale.
The Geithner confirmation is an excellent issue for purposes of getting acquainted with your US senators. Remember, the full Senate has to vote on him. You can click on that red box GTP has up at the top of the page, find your senator, message him or her with the special “contact” form on his web page. Say Geithner’s a tax cheat and you don’t think he should be confirmed to one of the most powerful jobs in the government. Geithner will almost certainly be confirmed regardless, but your senator will appreciate that his constituents are paying attention and so be less inclined to go along with every damn thing the White House comes up with. In the highly unlikely event that Geithner is not confirmed, the defeat would be a major, major bloody nose for the Obama.
