Gingrich urges GOP to fight Geithner
Wants ‘tax evader’ disqualified

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich is challenging Senate Republicans to take on President Obama’s nomination of Timothy Geithner as Treasury secretary.

Treasury Secretary-designate Timothy Geithner (left) looks on as President Obama meets with members of his economic team. Mr. Obama has called Mr. Geithner’s tax problems an “innocent mistake” that should not stall is confirmation.
Mr. Gingrich said Mr. Geithner’s failure to pay Social Security and Medicare taxes for 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004 should automatically disqualify him, and that if Mr. Obama doesn’t withdraw the nomination Republicans should make a stand. Read More

This will blow your mind!

Geithner is a wheeler-dealer for powerful special interests.  ”There has to be something more to the rationale for confirming somebody who is this much of a conniver or this dumb to the post. What is it? The Answers here

UPDATE: 19 JAN

At a time when the nation needs a reliable, respected voice on financial issues at the Treasury Department, is an admitted tax cheat the best we can do?

Over several years, Treasury secretary nominee Timothy F. Geithner failed to pay Social Security taxes, even though he was advised by his employer to do so, signed an agreement indicating that he understood that such payments were his responsibility and received extra pay from his employer specifically for that purpose.

Timothy Geithner is not the “change we need,” and President-elect Barack Obama should withdraw his nomination.

  1. diogenes says:

Gosh, do you think the Trilateral Commission may be behind this all????

    Tinfoil, anybody?

  2. lukemcgook says:

Interesting that Geithner has Chinese connections. Speaks Chinese, for Pete’s sake, which blows my theory that no one really speaks Chinese, not even the Chinese. Outgoing Secretary Paulson has also served as Wall Street’s director of Chinese sales. And I hadn’t realized Kissinger was so closely associated with the effort.

See, being able to peddle government debt to the Chinese is crucial to the continued borrowing and spending that probably does most of us no good at all, but is essential to the survival of the screw-up investment banking sector.

  3. lukemcgook says:

And if you don’t like the idea of another bailout artist serving as Secretary of the Treasury …

    write your US Senators!

Even if Geithner’s nomination gets out of committee, he’s still got to be confirmend by the entire Senate. Senators do actually pay attention to what their consituents think about the issues. You’ve got two senators. Use them.

  4. goodtimepolitics says:

Will diogenes pull off the tinfoil from around his ears long enough to listen? Oh I’m forgetting that he wants a pay raise and less children per class room…so less work and more pay…what a change! That old grey headed teacher I had could read out of a history book and at the same time teach you manners with her other hand…she had 40 children per class room with much less money! Yes thats it less money and more work!

  5. diogenes says:

“That old grey headed teacher I had could read out of a history book and at the same time teach you manners with her other hand.”

Yeah, but look at the quality of the finished product!

Shouldn’t blame her, though… even the greatest teacher can’t make chicken salad out of chickenshit

  6. goodtimepolitics says:

See thats where you go wrong diogenes, I was taught better than most kids are today, back then the school didn’t pass a kid to a higher grade unless he/she past the test. Today they pass kids all the way thu school and they come out of high school and can not read or write their own name! Thats the kind of teaching they have today and they want more money!

  7. lukemcgook says:

You know, di, a public school teacher doesn’t set a very good example with the sort of chronic hostile behavior you exhibit. Maybe you should skip the insults.

  8. anonymous says:

Mr. Geithner is just not right for this job as the Treasury Secretary. Who is this guy? He look like a ‘crook’. He can’t be trust how to handle our government money.

  9. diogenes says:

Bite me, luke. I’ll say what I want. I’m not in a classroom. And the kids I teach are a good deal brighter than the proprietor of this establishment. But thanks for the unsolicited advice, anyway.

  10. lukemcgook says:

A walking argument for home schooling is di.

  11. lukemcgook says:

    He look like a ‘crook’.

He does look kinda shady, now that you mention it.

Appears he cheats on his taxes anyhow.

  12. helochick says:

    di-
Why do you stoop to insults? Is that what you’re teaching kids? If you don’t like the way things are going start calling people names? Stick to the subject.
I want to know how the scandals that are being uncovered now, miraculously weren’t uncovered until now, and how is it people still aren’t seeing the truth?

  13. goodtimepolitics says:

Here is part of the answer helochick, the media and Google has hid the details of these scandals from the American people cause they’re in the tank with Barack! And the vast amount of people don’t keep up with politics like we do and could not tell you who the vice president was the last 8 years. Its sad that people don’t seem to care anymore.

  14. helochick says:

What’s even more sad is that those people are still allowed to vote. If our media wasn’t so biased America may have been more informed.
Those of us in the Miltary that didn’t vote for him are truely scared what he’s going to do.

  15. diogenes says:

First off, you “people” aren’t my students. I don’t get paid to pander to you and your vile sensibilities.

Second, while I am very grateful for the job our military does in protecting us, they don’t rate exalted status. Nothing about putting on a uniform means that you know better or worse than anybody else. You decry those who knew nothing about “these scandals” still being allowed to vote, but you admitted yourself that you didn’t know of them. So why are you allowed to vote?

If it allows you people to sleep at night, just keep hanging on to the misguided notion that 70 million people were victimized by mass hypnosis and/or mass hysteria, which is the reason Obama will be sworn in as President tomorrow.

  16. lukemcgook says:

di, you’re getting spit all over everybody. Are you going to calm down after tomorrow?

  17. helochick says:

Thank God I’m NOT one of your students. I’d be mis-informed like the rest of America!
Just give it up, you voted for a liar. He’s already admitted he can’t do all the promises he claimed in his pre-election speeches. He’s not pulling out troops, he’s pulling out just enough to let America think he’s doing what he said. There’s this really cool thing called message traffic, GTP knows what it is. You di, however do not. So when you actually have “inside info” then come talk to me. Right now you got nothing.

Di- don’t you dare insult me, I knew there was something wrong with him before I voted. Any informed voter would have. I didn’t have to know the specifics. Just remember the next time you use your freedom of speech, if it wasn’t because of the military you say doesn’t deserve to be exalted, you wouldn’t have that at all. You’d be speaking German you prick.
I’M ALLOWED TO VOTE BECAUSE I FOUGHT FOR YOUR GD FREEDOM! THAT’S REASON ENOUGH! I don’t have a 9-5 job, it’s 24-7. You don’t know what that’s like. To worry that any given hour you could get a call that you have to be ready to deploy in a 48 hr notice. Say good-bye to your family, you won’t see them for the next year, birthday’s anniversaries, Christmas, New Years, and every other holiday in between. I’m saying it now WE DO DESERVE SOMETHING MORE. We put OUR lives on the line for YOU. So you can disrespect us, and we do it voluntarily. What did you do for me? Nothing. So the next time you lay your head down to sleep at night in this GOD LOVING FREE COUNTRY, just know it’s because of me and veterans like GTP that you can feel safe to lie your head down at night.

  18. diogenes says:

Wasn’t that Jack Nicholson’s diatribe in “A Few Good Men”? Right before they hauled him off to the brig?

Did you forget you enlisted? You volunteered for all this? And you knew what you were volunteering for?

No, sorry, you don’t get exalted status for that. You get respect, but not a higher station in life. You do a job, just like everybody else. You’re not any smarter, or any more worthy, than any other citizen. Your opinion doesn’t count for more just because you wear a uniform, and your vote counts the same as mine.

I’m told to accept a minimal salary because I understood that was the case when I signed on to be a teacher. The same goes for you: you know what you signed on for, so accept it, do your job, and quit posturing like you’re something super special.

Although I’m sure a chopper jockey would be privy to the plans of the commander-in-chief who won’t even BE commander-in-chief for twelve more hours. Surely he’s issuing all sorts of orders to the rank-and-file military already.

For the record, what I heard Obama say during the campaign is that he would pull out our troops as expeditiously as possible without endangering those same troops. If it’s 16 months, great. If it’s more than that, fine.

At least it won’t be 100 years.

  19. goodtimepolitics says:

Did you say 70 million people diogenes, counting Mickey Mouse and the thousands of other fake names that ACORN came up with! What football team or was that a baseball team with all those names for Obama? Even Hillary got more votes than Obama, whats with that diogenes? Now sit back take in a big breath of air for tomorrow is here and Obama will have to take the wheel and prove that he knows how to stear this country and if not then he will be blamed and condemn just as all the other presidents in the past that made mistakes! Obama might think he is above the law, but he is not! We the people will hold his toes to the fire!

  20. helochick says:

You really are a piece of work di. My opinion is that we are trying to do something good over there. Why should your opinion mean the same when you aren’t the one being directly affected? I never said my vote should count for more. But how about all those votes that Acorn came up with? No ones vote counts anymore. You are an angry little person, and I can’t wait till he proves to NOT be the savior everyone thinks he is.

  21. goodtimepolitics says:

It takes courage helochick, maybe diogenes is still looking for his courage!

  22. goodtimepolitics says:

Gingrich urges GOP to fight Geithner, I updated the post above!

  • Where I’m coming from!

As a person that's been around the country and seen what America was and now what she has became makes me sick. I keep up with the news and what's going on and try to state my opinion of the way I feel about the U.S. Government and the way it's dictating our every day personal lives. I'm not a conservative or am I a liberal, just call me a good American citizen that will vote for the person based on their past history. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoy the post I make.
