Rep. Duncan D. Hunter, San Diego Republican and son of retired Rep. Duncan Hunter, cited recent leaks in the media claiming that the next administration is considering U.S. military bases to hold foreign terrorists suspects once the detention facility in Cuba is closed.
Mr. Hunter, who like his father is a member of the House Armed Services Committee, sent a letter this evening to Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates noting that plans to put terrorists in his community, which includes Marine Corp. Base Camp Pendelton, will not be met without a fight. Read More
Gitmo Inmates Return to Terrorism
As Barack Obama prepares to issue an Executive Order to close the Guantanamo Bay military prison the Pentagon reports a rise in the number of detainees who rejoined terrorist missions after being released.
The Department of Defense says that the number of Guantanamo prisoners—all suspected Middle Eastern terrorists—who have returned to “the fight” since their release from custody has nearly doubled in a short time from 37 to 61.
The information was revealed this week by the Pentagon’s Defense Intelligence Agency, which gathers foreign military intelligence. The agency used data such as fingerprints, pictures and other intelligence reports to confirm the high rate of recidivism among released prisoners. Read More

We’re finding out some information concerning the recidivism rate of terrorists who have been released from Guantanamo Bay. Some – not the majority – seem to be going back to the fight. With that knowledge in hand I’d like to suggest a National Terrorist Offender Registry.
