House Speaker Nancy Pelosi plans to re-write House rules today to ensure that the Republican minority is unable to have any influence on legislation. Pelosi’s proposals are so draconian, and will so polarize the Capitol, that any thought President-elect Obama has of bipartisan cooperation will be rendered impossible before he even takes office.
Pelosi’s rule changes — which may be voted on today — will reverse the fairness rules that were written around Newt Gingrich’s “Contract with America.” Read More
Is this what the people of America wanted? I don’t think so, maybe the moveon.org and pinky groups but not hard working Americans! States with Republicans in congress will not get a fair representation in congress!

Sort of an asymmetry here. When the R’s are in control, they make it easier for the D’s to propose alternative legislation. When the D’s have a lock on Congress, they make it harder to field alternatives. It’s almost like the D’s don’t much care about representative democracy.
Btw, a few posts back, we were talking about the lack of promised transparency in the Obama’s transition affairs, and some boob claimed that the “Your Seat At The Table” page at the transition website covered all meetings. Well, if you represent the National Association Of Pickling Cucumber Growers and you’re in touch with the transition flak-catchers, you may get a mention on the “Seat” page; but if you’re actually doing serious business, you can count on secrecy. For example, I was reading an article about a Blue Dog Dem who claimed she’d had “detailed” meetings with the O-team and received assurances of fiscal restraint from them. A search of the “Seat” page turns up nothing.
Was this the page you’re talking about lukemcgook?

That’s it. I assume Liz is talking about change.com, where there is no mention of SD Rep. Stephanie Herseth and the promises she received re not spending every frikkin dollar the new guys can get their hands on.
Sorry, that’s change.gov. Evidently the rules for awarding .gov domains were bent for the sake of Hope and Change.
