A top Senate Republican is criticizing Harry Reid’s involvement in the Illinois Senate seat scandal, accusing him of meddling in the state’s affairs by pushing certain candidates in phone calls to Gov. Rod Blagojevich.

According to a Chicago Sun-Times report Saturday, Reid called Blagojevich on Dec. 3 and urged him to tap either state Veteran Affairs Director Tammy Duckworth or state Attorney General Lisa Madigan, both Democrats, to fill the seat. Blagojevich was arrested less than a week later on corruption charges that included allegations he was trying to sell the seat to the highest bidder.  Read More

How many more of these democrats have called Gov. Rod Blagojevich about this senate seat of Obama? What else will be found out after all the tapes has been released or by a grand jury? This is another issue that Obama will have hanging over him for many months to come!

  1. Well, I have to confess that they probably have me, too, on tape talking to Blagojevich. But the only reason I called him was because his hair had dug under the fence and gotten in my garbage cans.

  2. “Pay for play” like Blagojevich allegedly participated in is illegal and unethical.

Making calls and pushing certain candidates isn’t illegal or even unethical. It’s called “politics”. It’s smart; you ask around and get opinions as to who would be the best person for the job.

You’d see the same thing going on on the Republican side — but McCain and Palin lost.

    Thank goodness!

  3. From your way of saying it, its ok to pay and play as long as you don’t get caught, land deals, sweet loans and there is so many illegal ways huh! I didn’t say what Reid did was illegal, I think it was wrong and will just be more on the dirty list of the democrats which will hurt Barack as that list gets longer.
