13 cents a gallon is quite a bit if the price at the pump jumps back up to $4.00 or $5.00 and with OP talking of cutting production it could jump that high or higher! Look for this to spread across America! I know I know, but most of these things start in California and moves across to the East Coast!
California’s Democratic leaders were planning a vote today on a brazen proposal to raise gas, sales and income taxes through a series of legal maneuvers that would bypass the Legislature’s minority Republicans.
The Democratic gambit, announced Wednesday, would raise $9.3 billion to ease the state’s fiscal crisis by increasing sales taxes by three-fourths of a cent and gas taxes by 13 cents a gallon, starting in February. The plan would add a surcharge of 2.5% to everyone’s 2009 state income tax bill.
The question is for the supporters, Will this be a tax that the poor and middle class people will pay or is it a cut in taxes for the people making $200,000.00 or less as Obama promises?

Interesting. Not the tax increases; after all, where are Democrats, there be tax increases. What’s interesting is the sleight of hand the Cali Dems are using to get their increases. We’re all going to have to be accountants now, since smoke and mirrors are an important part of the Donk tool kit at the national level, too.
Lets say gas at the pumps costing $3.00
Then we add 13 cents a gallon
And we pump 20 gallons into car.
Our cost would be: $62.60 a $2.60 increase! The Obama democrats will two dollar tax us until we can not afford a car! I’m still waiting for the Obama supporters to tell me if the poor and middle income classes will be paying this tax????????????? And raising sales tax too on the poor to, yes they are!
Well, so far, it’s just California … which means more of California’s tax base will flee to other states and California will be in worse fiscal shape than ever.

Many states are in financial trouble. We’re all going to have to get better acquainted with our state legislators. Stop the tax increases. Start the spending cuts. Most of the time, government is our enemy.

Some things may start California and move east but when it comes to any tax started in Cali, by the time Democrats in New York and New Jersey catch on to it, they “enhance” those taxes with special, initial user fees that provide state coffers with an added injection of one shot revenues.
California liberals may be inventive but Northeast liberals are pro’s. Do you realize that New Jersey’s Jon Corzine came up with an information tax that would have one pay a tax for downloading instructional information from the internet?

Yes and does people with incomes of less than $200,000.00 ( call poor to middle class) have to pay this new tax increase pushed by the democrats? Don’t need answering as we all know when Obama said there would be a tax cut for people under $200,000.00 and only new taxes on the rich was a lie. Right?
