“Obviously… I am saddened and sobered by the news that came out of the U.S. Attorney’s office today. … I had no contact with the governor or his office. So, I was not aware of what was happening. It’s a sad day for Illinois. Beyond that, I don’t think it’s appropriate for me to comment.” – President-elect Barack Obama
While insisting that the President-elect had not expressed a favorite to replace him, and his inclination was to avoid being a “kingmaker,” Axelrod said, “I know he’s talked to the governor and there are a whole range of names many of which have surfaced, and I think he has a fondness for a lot of them.”
There remain questions about how Blagojevich knew that Mr. Obama was not willing to give him anything in exchange for the Senate seat — with whom was Blagojevich speaking?
WHICH ONE OF THE ABOVE 3 IS LYING? YOU CARE TO GUESS?
Obama’s Effort on Ethics Bill Had Role in Governor’s Fall
In a sequence of events that neatly captures the contradictions of Barack Obama’s rise through Illinois politics, a phone call he made three months ago to urge passage of a state ethics bill indirectly contributed to the downfall of a fellow Democrat he twice supported, Gov. Rod R. Blagojevich.
Mr. Obama placed the call to his political mentor, Emil Jones Jr., president of the Illinois Senate. Mr. Jones was a critic of the legislation, which sought to curb the influence of money in politics, as was Mr. Blagojevich, who had vetoed it. But after the call from Mr. Obama, the Senate overrode the veto, prompting the governor to press state contractors for campaign contributions before the law’s restrictions could take effect on Jan. 1, prosecutors say.
Tipped off to Mr. Blagojevich’s efforts, federal agents obtained wiretaps for his phones and eventually overheard what they say was scheming by the governor to profit from his appointment of a successor to the United States Senate seat being vacated by President-elect Obama. One official whose name has long been mentioned in Chicago political circles as a potential successor is Mr. Jones, a machine politician who was viewed as a roadblock to ethics reform but is friendly with Mr. Obama.

(1) The rise of Barack Obama and the fall of Rod Blagojevich is connected!
My guess — and it is only a guess — is that nobody is “lying”, assuming that your definition of “lying” is intentionally stating something that is not true, knowing it is not true.
It’s way too early to be making accusation, but from what has come out from the prosecutor so far, I would not be surprised if Rahm Emanuel (or someone else on Emanuel’s staff) contacted the Governor’s office. Obama almost certainly did not do so himself; he knows (and everybody else knows) that it was very likely that Blagojevich was being wiretapped by the feds, so if Obama spoke with him, there’d be a tape of him talking with Blagojevich. (Say what you want about Obama, but he’s not that stupid.)
So Emanuel spoke with Blagojevich, and then Emanuel may have talked to Fitzpatrick. (Why not, if he thought that the prosecutor already knew via the wiretap?)
Meanwhile, Axelrod hears that Obama didn’t talk to Blagojevich, and he misspoke and said “we” haven’tspoken with Blagojevich.
That’s not a lie, that’s a mistake.
The funny thing is people jumping to the conclusion that Obama was in cahoots with Blagojevich. Did you hear what the prosecutor said about the tapes? Somebody from Obama’s office asks for Blagojevich to consider Candidate 1 (probably Valerie Jarrett) but doesn’t offer one cent to the Gov. Gov. hangs up and says (paraphrasing) “They want this for nothing? F*** him [Obama]. That motherf***er.” Doesn’t sound like conversation between conspirators to me. But I guess it would to tinfoil madhatters looking for any excuse to Obamabash.
BY the way, CLinton wasn’t impeached for “lying” about that woman. He was impeached for committing perjury: lying under oath. A big difference: if simply lying or misleading the American public was grounds for impeachment, Bush, Cheney and the whole gang would’ve been gone years ago!
But…when this gets to the grand jury could be called and if he tell them that he had no contact with the governor or his office it would be under oath! One of the three has to be lying ! Thi is one issue that will hurt Obama his whole term in office like many of the media outlet has said!
You try to sound like I’m the only one that thinks Obama lied! Well I’m not the only one, there are many that feel the same as I do about this!

And another proof that Obama is lying!
http://texasdarlin.wordpress.com/2008/12/10/did-obama-and-blagojevich-meet-nov-5/
When you start citing “Texasdarlin” as a source of ANYTHING, it shows how weak your argument is.
It may be a big issue, but at this point, nobody can say with any kind of certainty. It may be a complete non-issue, and it may be that, when it all comes out, Obama looks pretty much on the up-and-up. To jump on this simply to throw more crap at Obama in the hope that something sticks, eventually, is sad.
I suspect the station is getting many calls which may explain in part the abrupt approach. However, their “clarification” does not clarify why the station made the report in the first place – twice. Human error would be a fine answer, but as for now, their conduct invites speculation.
Why would a news organization not be more transparent about a story of national significance – or any story – about which they now say they may have been incorrect? I have no idea if this is relevant but the owner of KHQA is the Barrington Group which is owned and controlled by the Pilot Group. This finance group is run by Rob Pittman of MTV/AOL fame. Pittman is a New Yorker who supported Obama in the primaries and according to the New York Post, hosted a fundraiser for him along with Huffington Post co-founder, Ken Lerer.
Obama mined for more gold at the Central Park West home of Huffington Post co-founder Ken Lerer, who co-hosted a cash bash with former AOL honcho Bob Pittman.
HuffPo has been known to be a little partial to Mr. Obama. Who knows if any of this is related, but as I said, the curious conduct of the station opens the door to speculation.

So diogenes its not just texasdarlin reporting this so why did you attack her? I know its the far left liberal trademark to attack anyone who disagees with the “ONE”
Plus the picture in the post of Obama and blagojevich shaking hands making contact was taken in DEC.
di, be sure to let us know as soon as it’s OK to throw crap at Obama.
Its sad that these people like diogenes have to defend such a lier! Go to the link below and you can see that someone is lying!

And it’s sad that people aren’t able to distinguish between a “lie” and a “misstatement” or a “false statement”.
And Luke? You of all people don’t need permission to throw crap at Obama. You’ve been doing it for months now, as best I can tell.
And, in most minds that are capable of critical thought, there IS a difference between a meeting to discuss a senatorial vacancy and a photo op at a governors’ convention. Does anybody (other than trouble-seeking morons who reside here) believe that there were absolute no occasions, anytime, anywhere, that the U.S. Senator from Illinois met the Governor of the State of Illinois?
Obama ” I had no contact with the Governor or his office”
In that picture there is contact diogenes!
Obama is lying from what I and many other Americans see!
