President-elect Barack Obama, returning to his home state of Hawaii for the holidays, plans a beachside vacation at one of Oahu’s most exclusive properties, according to an islander involved in the planning.
Arrangements are being finalized for the Obamas and the families of two or three friends to stay at a Kailua beachfront location with three modern, multi-million-dollar homes. Each wraps around a lagoon-style swimming pool, with palm trees, grassy lawns and retractable glass walls for postcard views of the white sand and windsurfers.
Obama and his friends plan to rent the privately owned homes for several days including Christmas, said the islander, a Democratic activist who spoke Thursday night on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to reveal the details.

Many Americans is losing their jobs daily and will not have money to spend for Christmas and the congressmen are going to expensive parties in around the country and Obama spending big in Hawaii without a care in the World! This is the “ONE” that asked the American people to pay more taxes while their families do without! This is change for sure!
Where’s the story about the 8500 square foot mansion that Bushie just bought for $2.1 million? The only reason the sale price is that low is because Bushie’s handling of the economy depressed the real estate market so much.
Shouldn’t the Bushes move into a homeless shelter, to show their solidaroty with the people that W put there?
i’d like to know whether obama or the government will be paying for this house. if obama (and his buddies) foots the bill, i don’t see what the big deal is.

I don’t think we will ever be told who pays for it justin..but we do know that there are $30 million dollars that Obama has not released back to the democratic party!
Oh, come on, GTO, are you that naive? You really think that, when the economy heads south, all you have to do is look to who’s in control of Congress so you can easily determine who’s “responsible”? How come, when times are good, you look to see who the President is, if he happens to have an R after his name?
Our economic problems are complex, and they’ve been in the works a long time. It won’t be an easy fix, by any means, but to assume that merely replacing a Democratic Congress with a Republican one to solve our issues is just sophomoric.
As for who pays for Obama’s vacation, use a little common sense. Obama is, officially, nothing in our current government, so there’s no reason for anyone to think that the government would pay for his vacation. (Will the government pay for Secret Service coverage? Of course. And they would no matter where Obama happened to be at any given point in time.) So Justin, there is no big deal. But, if you hang around here long enough, you’ll soon learn that GTP doesn’t need to have a “big deal” in order to throw crap against the Obama administration. Heck, it’snot even an “administration” yet, and GTP is blaming Obama for all of America’s economic woes AND for George W.’s complete failure to address anything at this point. W is almost literally fiddling while Rome burns — buying a new house in Dallas, unveiling his official portrait at the Union Club, etc etc etc. It is kind of funny, though, to see the most unpopular President in recent American history try to stumble his way through a validictory campaign!
And, once again, GT, you misunderstand (probably intentionally) campaign finance when you say “Obama has not released back to the Democratic Party” the remaining $30 million in his campaign chest. That money was raised by Obama and his team, not by the DNC. It was never the DNC’s money to begin with! So the issue isn’t that Obama “accepted” money from the DNC and now he’s not willing to give it back. It’s money that people contributed to Obama, and he’s apparently reluctant to hand that money over to other Democrats who were not as successful in their own fund-raising.

That money is not money that Obama can keep to spend as he likes! Now guess what you’re in worst brain shape them I first thought! Go see a good doctor thats ruled by Barack Hussein!
I never said that Obama could do whatever he wanted to with it; only you could read something into my comment that isn’t even there. But that doesn’t mean Obama can simply give it to the DNC. In fact, it’s kind of difficult for him to give it to ANYONE else, since it was money people donated to HIM to get elected. I donated (not a lot) to Obama. If I wanted to donate to the DNC or to some other specific Democratic candidates, I would have; I didn’t. It’s governed by FEC regulations. But he can use it for his re-election campaign in 2012, I believe.
