The recent disclosures have hurt New York Rep. Charles B. Rangel standing in the House

The Democratic chairman of the powerful House Ways and Means Committee has been at the center of a seemingly endless swirl of questions about his activities. He came under fire this week after The New York Times reported that Rangel worked to protect a tax shelter for Nabors Industries, an oil company whose chief executive was pledging $1 million to a school bearing the congressman’s name.

The executive, Eugene M. Isenberg, also personally pledged $200,000 to the City College of New York, where the public policy school is named for Rangel. Last year, the company won congressional approval to preserve its tax shelter in the Caribbean, saving Nabors tens of millions of dollars annually and depriving the federal treasury of $1.1 billion in revenues over a decade, according to a Congressional analysis by the nonpartisan Joint Committee on Taxation.

The recent disclosures have hurt Rangel’s standing in the House, political watchers say.

With democrats in congress still wasting money at this rate and wanting more of our tax money to give out to these large companies we shall never get out of the hole that they put us in from the start of the democratic control congress.

U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton is constitutionally ineligible to serve as President-elect Barack Obama’s secretary of state

U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton is constitutionally ineligible to serve as President-elect Barack Obama’s secretary of state, a legal watchdog group said Tuesday.

Judicial Watch said the Ineligibility Clause of the United States Constitution says that no member of Congress can be appointed to an office that has benefited from a salary increase during the time that person was in Congress.

The Washington-based group points to a January 2008 Executive Order signed by President George W. Bush during Clinton’s current Senate term that increased the salary for secretary of state.

“No Senator or Representative shall, during the Time for which he was elected, be appointed to any civil Office under the Authority of the United States, which shall have been created, or the Emoluments whereof shall have been encreased during such time,” Article I, section 6 of the U.S. Constitution says.

Obama announced Monday that Clinton, the junior senator from New York, was his pick for secretary of state.

Is this another way that Barack will try and work to lower the bar of the U.S. Constitution? He does not seem to know the Constitution very well or is fighting against it knowing that he’s wrong! If the U.S. Constitution says “No Senator or Representative shall, during the Time for which he was elected, be appointed to any civil Office under the Authority of the United States, which shall have been created, or the Emoluments whereof shall have been encreased during such time,” then should Hillary be allow to be secretary of state? Simple as that! What do you think, should we go by the U.S. Constitution or just forget it?

Cities across the country made sanctuary for AWOL servicemen

bambie1

Berkeley, Calif.: Last year reaffirmed its Gulf War-era support of conscientious objectors by declaring itself a sanctuary, directing police and other city employees not to help the military arrest or find people who have gone AWOL.

Ithaca, N.Y.: In October passed a resolution making the town a sanctuary that protects war protesters, even those in uniform, from arrest by local law enforcement. The measure doesn’t specifically protect AWOL soldiers.

And now Activists want to make Portland a sanctuary for AWOL servicemen

Activists from several peace groups will go before the Portland City Council today seeking support for making Portland a sanctuary for military resisters — service members who have gone AWOL to protest the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

They hope the City Council will instruct police officers to ignore federal arrest warrants if they make a traffic stop of a soldier absent without leave.

The activists say such a stance is backed by the city’s formal opposition to the Iraq war. And, they say, it’s in line with the city’s withdrawal from the federal Joint Terrorism Task Force as well as its policy prohibiting Portland officers from assisting U.S. immigration agents unless they need emergency backup.

These cities are not very American are they? Bunch of anti-war Jane Fondas and John Kerrys!! These are the same people that support Obama even after he has lied to them!  Now they have a president that would not join the military and was also against the war!  I keep seeing CARTER, CARTER, CARTER!
