Medical refusal rule may go far beyond abortion (Good?)

Reporting from Washington The outgoing Bush administration is planning to announce a broad new “right of conscience” rule permitting medical facilities, doctors, nurses, pharmacists and other healthcare workers to refuse to participate in any procedure they find morally objectionable, including abortion and possibly even artificial insemination and birth control.

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin – President-elect tells a gathering of 48 state chief executives that he wants their input on a national economic recovery plan.

Before she left, Palin gave the incoming administration credit for summoning the group together.

“Governors do know best,” she said, “when you talk about some of these issues.”

Georgia Sen. Saxby Chambliss Wins With The Help Of Gov. Sarah Palin

Georgia Republican Sen. Saxby Chambliss handed the GOP a firewall against Democrats eager to flex their newfound political muscle in Washington, winning a bruising runoff battle Tuesday night that had captured the national limelight.

Chambliss’ victory thwarted Democrats’ hopes of winning a 60 seat filibuster-proof majority in the Senate.
Several ex-Republican presidential candidates made appearances for Chambliss, including GOP nominee John McCain, former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee.

Chambliss brought in Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, McCain’s vice presidential pick, as his closer. She headlined four rallies for Chambliss across the state Monday that drew thousands of party faithful.
