During the campaign and right after the election there was so much Obama hero worshipping going on in the Liberal blogs that the post was rolling so fast you did not have time to comment, now that alittle time has pass the Code Pink group and other activist groups are getting upset with their baby boy Obama moving toward the center and withdrawing his short demand of 16 months to have all the troops from Iraq. The Obama hero worshipping liberals has cooled to a slow crawl now that they have learned their beloved Obama lied to them on just about everything just to get their money and vote. Yes liberals, its like buying a car with no motor…I would be mad to if I had wasted my money on Barack Obama!
The activists key members of the coalition that propelled Obama to the White House fear he is drifting from the antiwar moorings of his once-longshot presidential candidacy. Obama has eased the rigid timetable he had set for withdrawing troops from Iraq, and he appears to be leaning toward the center in his candidates to fill key national security posts.
The president-elect has told some Democrats that he expects to take heat from parts of his political base but will not be deterred by it.

Yep – they have to be disappointed so far. Obama may be proving to be a little less ideological than I feared he may be. He is definitely wise to temper his views on the 16 month withdrawal plan- that would be disastrous.
Still- I’m not fully convinced he’s a centrist. If the economy turns back around by the end of next year and he maintains a healthy level of popularity, I bet he starts taking us to the left. People will probably like it at first- having the government “take care of everything” always sounds great at first. But the implications of such a move to the left will start to show through before long- higher taxes, inflation, growing federal debt, stagnating economic growth. People won’t like it after that.
We’ll see though- time will tell. On this issue of Iraq, though, he will be wise to honor the new agreement and slowly draw down over the course of 3 years. No sense being ideological with how we get out of there at this point. Let’s do it in a way that ensures we never have to go back!
