When 10-year-old Austin Smith heard Barack Obama had been elected president, he had one question: Does this mean I won’t get a new gun for Christmas?
Last month, as an Obama win looked increasingly inevitable, there were more than 108,000 more background checks for gun purchases than in October 2007, a 15 percent increase. And they were up about 8 percent for the year as of Oct. 26, according to the FBI.
No data was available for gun purchases this week, but gun shops from suburban Virginia to the Rockies report record sales since Tuesday’s election.
“They’re scared to death of losing their rights,” said David Hancock, manager of Bob Moates, where sales have nearly doubled in the past week and are up 15 percent for the year. On Election Day, salespeople were called in on their day off because of the crowd.

I have news for President-elect Obama, this isn’t your big city, its small town Americans that love their hunting. Yes people if we go by Obama’s past gun voting record he will try and put many more controls on gun owners. We will be lucky to be allow to own a gun at all. Looks like we’re headed in the same directions as London where they have no guns except for the outlaws! We better keep up with what congress is doing and be ready to contact our congressmen!
I think that would be an outrage to this country, banning guns, or making gun owners pay more for taxes. That’s ridiculous! It would certainly anger a lot in the U.S. I believe it was with great intentions that Four four fathers promoted civilians the right to bair arms as the second Amendment on that “little piece of paper” many years ago. It is really a right we should have always, no matter how times may change.We should always be able to protect our homes, our children and ourselves. We should say NO! to no guns! Guns don’t kill people stupid people do! DUH. We should always have a right to defend ourselves. If our government ever falls and murdering riots roam the city streets we should we not have some sort of protection? Becouse the crimminals out number the police no matter what, and are not always around when needed the most.
What I don’t understand is why Obama wants a civilian security force as large and as well equiped as our Military! Then at the same time wants to take all guns away from Americans! Does anyone see besides me see anything wrong with this picture?
Why would he want to do such a thing?
